Ghyll Head launching the Kath Fry Award
The Friends of Ghyll Head has initiated the Kath Fry Award to mark her special role in promoting and preserving Ghyll Head. They had hoped that she might be able to be there when the award is launched at the presentation to the winners of the Millenium Challenge (which it will replace) on Monday 16th May at 1.45pm at Loreto High School in Chorlton. Sadly this will not be possible, but in a way this makes it even more of an appropriate recognition and memorial.

ReplyDeleteManchester Governors' Association (MGA) executive committee would like to pass on their sincere condolences to Karen and Peter. Kath was instrumental in re-vitalising the MGA and since that time, back in September 2009, we have held three successful governors conferences, have regular meetings with Local Authority officers and have an active executive committee working to support school governors in Manchester schools. Kath always worked hard for the people of Manchester as a councillor and community activist, and, in particular, for the children of the city through her assiduous campaigning for Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre. She was an outstanding woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
